Creating and Managing Civic Engagement Partnerships with the Community
    Presenter(s): Michele James Deramo   |

Mon, Feb 1, 2010 : 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM : 3060 Torgersen Hall : Register
Description: One of the most exciting, yet challenging components of civic engagement is the essential one: creating a partnership with a community member and/or organization. Done well, the results can be transformative; done poorly, the results can be disastrous. In this session, we will present a range of methods/pedagogical strategies such as service-learning. We’ll not only describe the qualitative side (personal interactions) of partnerships; we will also focus on some quantitative methods (such as the NAPE 12-Step Partnership Development Process, which is detailed in sections on awareness, needs assessment, potential resources, goals, program design, recruitment, assignment, orientation, training, recognition, and evaluation).

Special Note: co-sponsored by FYE, FDI, VT ePortfolio Initiative, and the Office of Academic Assessment
