Description: What do we know about our incoming students? Are there emerging learning styles and preferences among our students? What role is technology playing in these preferences? What technology trends are likely to impact higher education in the coming semesters? Given what we know about learning, what do these trends suggest for our classrooms in the coming years? In this short course, these and other questions will be interactively explored. An examination of emerging trends in technology will be coupled with a literature review of what we know and what you’re observing about current and incoming students. Participants can expect a workshop experience where discussion and hands-on exploration of new technologies are central. Data from the Pew Internet in American Life Project (http://www.pewinternet.org/) and the 2009 and 2010 Horizon Reports (http://www.nmc.org/pdf/2009-Horizon-Report.pdf) will provide additional food for thought throughout. |
