Description: In late spring 2012, the Center for Instructional Development and Educational Research (CIDER) published a new issue of Pedagogy in Practice, a publication that shares stories of Virginia Tech faculty who are engaging students in holistic and transformative educational experiences through the creation of effectual pedagogy. The CIDER Pedagogy in Practice Seminar Series is being offered to enable participants to learn more about the practices shared in the publication. This seminar will extend discussion of the pedagogy shared in the article entitled “Constructivist Learning with Modularization, Personalization, and Teams.” More about this session can be found below.

Faculty can rekindle student interest by adapting and deploying highly interactive online resources developed and collected across the nation. This panel discussion (involving 2 faculty, 2 librarians, and our visiting Innovator in Residence) will explore how open access educational resource repositories have and will aid teaching and learning at Virginia Tech. Huge, valuable repositories are openly accessible; we will explore benefits of the open access movement to students, teachers, and authors at VT. Examples of coverage include STEM areas (through NSF's National Science Digital Library), computing (including algorithm visualization), hypertext books (with online visualizations and exercises), model theses and dissertations, and rich collections of locally developed materials.
